Hi All TEN owners
I am looking at fitting HEL Braided brake lines/hoses to my 2010 TEN. I did a mountain pass a few weeks ago and cooked the rear brake on the down two up. It seems the brake fluid made an escape where the factory brake line/hose attaches on the rear master cylinder. Before I start taking the whole lot apart and start fixing it, I am checking to see how viable braided lines/hoses are. Has anyone fitted HEL Braided lines/hoses to there TEN (non ABS) and was it a pain to bleed the brakes. I was informed by the supplier that it is very tricky and should only be attempted by a technician. I have worked on bikes and cars all my life so I don't have ten thumbs... AND...is it worth it to upgrade to braided brake lines/hoses at all on the TEN. Thanks for any feedback. |

i have HELL hose front/rear on my XTR...
I have found the best way to bleed the front brake is to take the master cylinder off put it on another set of bars on the ground below the caliper.. then it no issue..but I only have one caliper...

I am hoping someone with a TEN that has fitted the RACE version of the HEL hoses has a safe and reliable way of bleeding the system. Cheers |

I have a Z and have no problems bleeding the Hel race set up. On the front, just do one line then the other. I don't use any fancy bleeding gear either, just a piece of pipe. I tend to get another body to do the lever pulling while I open and close the bleed nipple. Push plenty of fluid through and keep the reservoir topped up. Never an issue.

So no air bubbles to start of with...I will look into your method. Very sounds advise their. Thanks Pepsi.

Yes, installed it myself. Dead easy, only thing you've really got to think about is how you want to route the longer hose to the left hand caliper. There are a few permutations, depending on whether you've got a high guard and what sort of risers/bars and handguards you've got fitted. Just lay it all out loosely first, before connecting it all up tight and crushing the washers.
