Previously on a DRZ
My previous trusty steed a slightly modded DRZ400 E.
Safari tank, 3x3 air box mod, Fatbars. A Yoshi pipe was fitted since this photo was taken. I went for a spin to Krommbit Tops National Park Central Queensland. Which has a 35km 4WD loop to have a look at an old aero plane crash site. Apparently this plane was undiscovered for 49yrs before a Park Ranger came across it. The plane was a decommissioned bomber that was at the time taking supplies up to north Australia until it's fatal unfortunate ending. The understanding is that she was flying low in fog. The engines were at full noise and flaps were up as to try to avoid the impending cliff which they hit, then smashed the plane to pieces laying strewn up the hillside. The tail section is the largest remaining piece... One of the 4 engines And a letter from one of the crew who was telling friends how excited he was this was his last flight before he was about to marry his Fianc ... Needless to say the poor soul didn't make it. This was a very moving place to have visited. God rest there souls. So a moral to the story would be to live life as you never know what's round the corner. Thanks for viewing |

On a slightly lighter note. I also paid a visit to Curtis Island which is about an 1 1/2hr barge ride not far from where I live. The Islands approximately 50kms long & about 10kms wide. There are a few residential houses at the southern end with the rest being made up of Cattle stations. There are numerous tracks & trails to enjoy up & down the island. So I donned the DRZ in its older set of plastics & headed of to the barge.
To arrive here.. About half way up the island I came across this nice little spot.. And just to the left was a beach just screaming out to be 'Roosted' upon, so I happily obliged which is where I spent the best part of my day. The DRZ was a get bike & would have loved to have hung on to it but sadly can't justify 2 bikes. So it had to make way for the Tenere. Time is a great healer & I am currently enjoying my new acquaintance immensely. |

To park up next to a beach like that is great...but to be able to ride ON it too! Fabulous! And the the Tenere is a worthy successor to your Drz. Steve
