is dyno run necessary. ?

When a power commander is fitted do you HAVE to get the Tenere on the dyno....or is that a dumb question .? I thought they were pr-loaded with your required mapping . Not sure i want to put my bike through the stress of a dyno run! Steve

Wouldnt really think its a must tho the preloaded maps were probably done on a test bike so the characteristics of each bike would be different putting it on a dyno would be making the map more tailor made for your individual bike. some bikes would has slight differences in voltage going to sensors that the PC would be using so the one map would get several different results

Tho I am only guessing lol

hope you get a Professional answer

Pretty good answer I'd say!

There is no real need to visit the dyno for a custom map. There are some decent maps available for most combinations of mods that get done to the XTs. The good thing is with a Power Commander is that you can try a map, and if you don't like it, you can easily try another. You should be able to find one "off the shelf" that pretty much suits what you want/need.

Having the map built on the dyno just enables you to fine tune it to suit you exact personal requirements (power, economy etc.) and also the subtle differences that exist from bike to bike. If you want a map that's 99% correct, then download one, if you want one that's 100% spot-on, then visit a dyno.

I'd always start with a downloaded map(s) to begin with and see how you get on. If nothing floats your boat, then book a dyno session. That's pretty much what I did in a nutshell.

Thanks xt86 and Pleiades. ..good info. I think I suffer from dyno-phobia.....a mini that was my pride and joy went bang whilst being thrashed through the gears on a rolling road!! Steve
