Waking up my XT's engine.
Ok i want to try get a bit more get up and go out of my Xt now.
for now i want to try stay with the stock pipes, so from what i've seen the air box is the way forward. I've tried a K&N and snorkel out so i guess my next step is a stage 2 air box but i'm concerned how "waterproof" this is. for example at work last night with the bike parked up how it was the rain would have been driving at that side of the airbox for 12 hours. and local roads round here flood badly when there is prolonged rain. So would a stage 2 work for me or will it just get killed off? I already have a PC and also experimenting with final drive ratios. |

I wouldn't worry about it as the oil makes them waterproof. you might just need to re-proof it a bit more/reduce the number of miles before you clean it

I've ran stage 2 most of the winter in heavy heavy rain most of the time I would say once you see the stage 2 filter starting to go a grey/red colour You should reoil or if it gives you a more confidence give it a clean and reoil it

There's stage one in there to get past still. The airbox can drain anyhow can't it? I have dna stage 2, went for K&N stage 1 (more worried about dust than water).
