Smile New Tenere today!!

Just rode my new Tenere for the first time today...fab!! It was a tentative start, we had just had a mighty downpour of sleet rain and the Tourance tyres were brand new. I had based buying the bike on the reviews on this site, talking to owners etc. I have had big sports bikes, then a Honda XR650R which I love. I have travelled all over Ireland on the XR, but just yearned for a big single, of the Adventure travel type but one that had a few more luxuries, ie electric start, a battery, a key even. It still needed to be a simple roughly tufty kind of bike and the Tenere seemed just the job. With just 20 miles done I'm already thinking I made a good choice!! Great forum , thanks

Welcome to the forum mate.

Glad you like your Ten - good choice.

I bought mine new back in 2008 without having even seen one in the flesh, never mind reading reviews (there weren't any) or having a test ride. Thing is, I've still got it now, nearly seven years later - longest I've ever kept a new bike by some margin. So there must be something about them!

Enjoy your new ride mate. I thought about an XR650R a while back but because of an old Knee injury I was worried about 'kickbacks' , an electric start would have been perfect.
Very happy with my Ten too. If yours is a brand newie it would be interesting to know if you also have a sticky pad inside the frame where the injector wire is.
I'll be posting a pic of where to poke your finger to be able to tell later when I get home under 'Prentative Maintainence' (you don't need to take the frame off to find it !)
Cheers

Thanks JaumeV , it's a great bike for sure! , as soon as it's run in and has had it's dealer service I will start to modify it a bit. Your Trail dreamer website is great by the way....you have done a great job on your Tenere! Steve

Oh yes very good choice! The bike will give you years of joy. No doubt. Bulletproof, rugged, friendly, powerful, adventurous yet low maintainance, the XT660Z Tnr is the bike best suited for alround adventure riding. Or just to look at :-P. Youre one of us now. Enjoy and share some pics.
