Xenon light kit only allows one beam on
Hi guys,
My Xenon HID light kit only lets me have either the high beam or low beam on at any one time. I cannot have both on at the same time (like a car). Is this normal? Did my mechanic do me in? Or does it differ from kit to kit?? I want both on at the same time. Thanks. Xt660 RULES!! |

Also, when the bike is switched to "on", the high beam flash switch doesnt really come on right away. It sort of flickers\twitches before it goes on. Is this normal or is the switch faulty?

The Tenere's headlight switch is wired from the factory so that it's either on main or dip (mainly because it shares the same switch with the X/R that have a single dual filament bulb).
You can get both dip and main to come on together quite easily. Read this: http://www.xt660.com/showpost.php?p=203832&postcount=8 I'm afraid the flickering when using the flash switch is normal with an HID. They take time to warm up and flicker initially. This is why most cars and bikes with factory fit HIDs only have them for dip. Wiring your dip beam to stay on all the time will help cover up this problem when going from dip to main and back quickly. Won't help with flashing though. |

Thanks Pleiades. Just to make sure, will that keep the low beam on at all times even if I switch on the high beam? The low beam must be on all the time. But not the high beam, just on occasion at night when I need it. And when I use the high beam BOTH beams must be on.

Yep. The dip beam will be on ALL the time regardless of the switch position. |
