XTR doesn't like the cold?

Evening all,

We're having the start of our winter here and i'm noticing the old girl is not enjoying the cold weather.

The most noticable time was when it was 2c and freezing fog. the bike just feels reluctant and a little down on power. If it was on my old bike i'd of described it as carb freezing.

Is it the same thing as i always thought you couldn't get "carb freezing" with FI.

or is it something simple like big singles don't like being cold?

or is there something worth checking on the bike? it's in pretty stock condition, only mods are k&n and kev mod, and the idle is set to 16.

The same query came up a few days ago.

Have a read of this post:

It'll save me explaining it all again!

(Just ignore the bit about the O2 Controller if it's a pre-2007 bike - the rest still applies.)

That makes perfect sense.

I'm at work tonight so the bikes parked outside my office window so i'll adjust that when i have my next fag.

Go up two notches and take it from there. You may have to do a bit of trial-and-error adjusting to get it right.

I've been doing some head scratching on this one and i'm begining to think it wasn't the fueling but something electrical, the first time it happened i was using my heated vest off the battery, and when i got into town a few miles from home i turned it off and the bike became more lively, then the other morning t was -2 so tried turning my heated grips on and got a flashing light which i guess meant low power and they wouldn't come on, as the bike took a few turns to start i figured i'll try again after i'd downa few miles to get some charge in the battery, anyway, tried a few more times and it still refused to switch on. tried again that night when i left work, the bike fired up fine and the heated grips worked straight away.
