46t rear sprocket?

Is there much of a difference to how the bike rides with a 46 on the rear? i've tried a 14 front and while fantastic on tight off roading it's useless for my normal commuting. (mostly 60mph +)

I'm looking to shift the gearing slightely as on some dirt tracks i'm finding 1st to much and i need to lower the minimum speed i get get out of second if that makes sense.

I use 14/48.. is only around 500rpm more at 100kph "60mph"
500 revs higher just puts the motor outside the
4000 rpm bad vibration zone..
and makes one hell of a diffrents off road.
