Cutting off after a long ride.

Hi everyone!

Ever since i got my XTX (about 3 weeks now), i noticed that every time i go for a long ride (40/50km stretch of road, cruising between 100/120kmh continuously), and for example, stop for a red light, the bike cuts off when im picking up the clutch again and give some gas.

Does any of you guys have an idea on why the bike does this?

Thanks in advance!

First thing I'd try is make sure the idle speed is set between 1400 and 1500rpm on a warm engine. A lot of the behaviour you describe can be attributed to a low idle speed.

A fresh correctly gapped spark plug will also help in this respect. Singles, and the XT is no exception, are very sensitive to plug condition.

Super! I will check my 'warm' idle speed today and buy a new spark plug, while we're at it.

Thanks and I'll try and see if it works! (Y)

Update: ok, i checked the idle speed at a warm engine and it was between 1300/1400rpm, so i upped it a little to 1500/1600rpm and so far, so good! Didn't get the chance to test it thoroughly today, but it felt good!

I also ordered an iridium plug today, will see how much of a difference that'll make.

Thanks!
