Howdy.

Hi everyone,

I've just joined up today after picking up my used xt660r this morning, it's my first thumper, I've been a road rider for the last 12yrs having only ridden inline 4's.

I've already has the bike off road down a short track near to me, it wasn't a graceful affair with the surging and snappy throttle response, but it behaved very well and I never knew a bike could grip that well off Tarmac.

I love the grunt in the motor but I know there's better to come once I've got used to how differently it behaves.

Cheers
Si

I've had a good look around and already have ideas on what I'd like to do, but firstly I'll try playing with the co and try have a look at the Cush drives and chain play as that can cause a snappy response. Also found 2 odd wires under the seat behind the battery coming from the main loom, I've tried to upload a pic from my phone but can't figure it out.

I know the two wires you are referring to, they are spare for connecting a standard Thatcham CAT 1 alarm.

Cheers captmoto, next is how to easy the surging and snatching, I'll have a play when I next get time, I'm guessing the bike may have been played with already as there's a forum sticker on the swing arm.
