Lube new clutch cable?
Hey chaps
I'm getting a new clutch cable this week and I can't figure out whether I should lube it or not. Googling it has half the people saying to lube it, and half saying it will be pre-lubed and more lube will just pull in dust and grit. What do you think? |

Speaking for myself and just about to fit spare cables to my bike for an overland trip...
I am going to thoroughly clean the originals which will become the spares, running alongside the new ones and I will lube both old and new.

I thought modern cables had PTFE inners that didn't need lube - in fact quite the opposite as oil causes the PTFE to swell and lose its lubricating properties.
...but I'm not 100% on this.
