Best tyres for xt660z

Hi
Just bought a XT660Z. Is it worth changing the standard tyres if I want to do lots of off-roading. Someone has recommended Mefo Super explorer on the rear and MT21 on the front. However the tyres they come with have good reviews. All suggestions welcome.
Cheers

In the end it is down to personal preferences ...

Does the tire have to be road legal ?
Does is matter if it get scary on wet tarmac - i.e. roundabouts ?

I've only had my pony for less than a year but on the super tenere i had before i've been most happy with Michelin T63 for my compromise of tarmac and green laning (imho better than TKC80 but does not last as long - been trough two sets of those)

But since I ride to much tarmac the last two sets on it was Heidenau K60 - more road oriented, but ok for dry green laning (not for mud)

For my pony I've bought T63 again and will change to them before the summer holiday that hopefully see som off-tarmac riding
