Smile changing to new tyres

I was thinking of looking into grippier more road biased tyres for my 2009 660R.
the original tourance have done 4700 miles and have plenty left on them, but I noticed the rear tyre can easily lock up when slowing down quickly under braking or down shifting.
OF course the resulting fish tailing can be fun not always welcomed.
I do almost all my riding on tarmac these days.

Has anyone tried michelin anake or continental trail attack.

I was also wondering if I could fit the same wheels as 660s on the bike and use fatter tyres

any advice? or experience?
