GYTR slip-ons
A few years back - before I had my own XT660 - a mate had a XTX with GYTR exhausts. I remember them well because we talked about what a nice sound they made... not crazy loud but good and throaty.
Anyway, I've looked through the forum but can't seem to find any info on the GYTR exhausts. Doesn't seem like anyone runs them and I wonder why? Is it just because they are too expensive (i.e. Aus$985 for the set) when there are cheaper options out there? I really like the look of them, and the sound from memory (I don't want anything crazy loud because of where I live), and Yamaha claim improved performance from them (weight saving too I'd reckon). I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone running these cans. Cheers! |

Hi Spinner Dan, we have 2 XT660r's, 1 with GYTR cans, the other with a Metal Mule 2 into 1 system. Not sure why, but the GYTR bike seems quicker and smoother. (Doesn't sound as good though) They were fitted when we got the bike, so don't know what it was like before. We live on the Sunshine Coast, so if you need to look or listen, get in touch with me. My XTR had GYTR cans on when I bought it....
I have changed them for a MM system... I think why not meany use them " Here in NZ anyway" is the prise tag $1600....

Thanks for the responses, Curt and Pete.
Yeah, I'm put off by the cost but it's good to know they perform all right. I'm not put off by the quieter sound than some of the other after-market cans... bloody horse riders around my place means it's better for me to have a quieter bike. I'll get serious about them if I see a set second hand. Cheers! |
