Xt660x 2006 oil
Hello, i was wondering what oil do you guys use/what oil should i use?
the prevous owener said he used yamalube, but i cant find it anywhere and people tells me that yamalube is just crap , i dont know . |

Yamalub is in every Yamaha dealer I have been in and plenty good enough

Yamalube is Motul so either are excellent, other good oils are Castrol and Bardahl. Make sure you get a JASO approved oil and 10/40 is good all year round.

(Now sold on, sob) 2011 Blue XT660X with gold wheels, was 26,500 km. Engine mods: K&N Stage 1 filter, DNA Stage 2 filter, snorkel removed, Kev fuel mod fitted. Plus: smoked Puig screen, Yam aluminium sump guard, Yamaha / Acerbis handguards, Givi Trekker aluminium side cases, Leo Vince X3 cans plus Kev front fork mod and Fender Xtender. Just fitted Michelin Road Pilot 3 tyres. SOLD the XTX for a Super Ten 1200. And just bought a Raptor 700 so staying on here for some tips.... |

Indeed, the oil a Yamaha dealer would use when servicing your XT is Motul 5100 10w40 semi-synthetic (AKA Yamalube).
Any decent JASO/motorcycle-specific semi-synthetic will be perfectly adequate for your bike. You can also use fully synthetic motorcycle oil, but realistically you're better off using a semi-synthetic and using the saving to fund changing the oil more frequently, say every 5000Km. |
