New Rear shock or Service XT660Z 2009

Hi All,

Trust you all had a good Christmas.

My XT660Z has just had its 42K Mile service. The mechanic advised that the rear shock was past its best and should be replaced. He did say that I would not have noticed it due to it deteriorating gradually.

I would like some advise on whether it is possible to get it serviced or do you have to replace it?

If it cannot be serviced then would it be better to change to an after market manufacturer like Ohlins? they seem a bit expensive at 750 +?

Also I guess that if the rear is tired then the Front forks would be due a service?

Many thanks
Colin
