Question Inner tube or not?

Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie, so I have a few (maybe stupid) questions.
My rear tyre (Pirelli Dragon) is worn out so 'm buying new ones, front and rear. I was looking for Michelin Pilot Power, they are not too expensive and have good reviews, so that should be good. In service manual, I read that XT660X doesnt have inner tubes. Is that correct? If so, do I need to buy inner tubes for Michelin PP or I must look for another type of a tyre?

Thanks for help, Filip.

No it isn't. The XTX has inner tubes.

Either use your old tubes if they're in good condition, or buy a pair of new ones if they look a bit shabby, lose air or have been patched.

As far as i know every bike with spokes has inner tubes.
With no inner tube every spoke in the rim will be a air leak.

thanks. Can you also tell me which size for inner tube do I need? I cant find it anywhere for XTX. I have standard tyres, 120/70 and 160/60.

Did you get some tubes sorted then? All the information you need to order a tube is the tyre's size.

Hi Guys N Gals! Bumping this thread, newbie needs info on inner tubes please? Been searching for a rear inner tube for the Xt660R, where do you source your 130/80-17 rear inner tubes from, please? Been to a couple of motocross shops they mainly do inch size tube. Would equivalent tube be 4.00/4.5" or 4.5/5.0" or bigger? Or just the best ones /best priced metric tubes to buy, please? Thanks

Plenty of places you can get metric 130/80x17 inner tubes. Infact they cover a range of sizes.

Here's one to try - http://tyresalesuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_27_35&pr oducts_id=119#.U4BvGSqF93g

All I'd add is, it is worth getting a branded tube, the cheap economy ones I've tried over the years tend to be a little too porous and need constant re-inflation.

Thanks Pleiades. Good to know you can get them. .... ended up ordering a heavyduty imperial tube 4.5-5.25 tube before I saw your reply but will see what it's like.

Can you slime inner tubes (pre puncture tyre fluid) like push bikes? Is it worth doing on the XT? Cheers.
