Rear Luggage Racks

Hi all,

Ive started making the radiator guards from the other thread and I plan on making some luggage racks at the beginning of January. I wanted to wait until I had tested them on the bike to make sure they were fit for purpose.

The luggage racks come in 3 different sizes. There is the Adventurer (small), Explorer (medium) and the Overlander (large). They are laser cut from 5mm 5251 aluminium and all the edges have been dressed so they will not rub luggage straps. All the racks will be supplied with aluminium spacers and stainless steel fixings and washers. The racks are powder coated and can be supplied in silver or satin black.

Size Comparison

Ive been using the small one on the back of the bike for strapping day to day stuff onto it and also Ive used a Kriega US10 on it. The medium one I used last weekend with a 40ltr dry bag to, it will also take a kriega US20 comfortably. I took the large rack on my trip to Morocco with a heavily laden dry bag. With a large dry bag strapped on to the medium or large rack there is no interference with the seat so if you are carrying a passenger they still have full use of the pillion seat or you can use it to strap more stuff on.

Another feature I added to the luggage racks is that there is the option to use it as a top box rack for the givi monokey top boxes. If you want the givi option there will obviously be a few more holes in the rack (as you can see in the pictures) and I can supply all the givi fixings to allow you to use a monokey case. These fixings can be added and removed easily with a spanner and allen key depending on what you want to use the rack for. I have tested the racks with a new Givi V46 and an older Givi E36 topbox from the monokey range. For the older boxes in the monokey range, the rubber bungs supplied in the fitting kit need a little trimming off the height for the box to sit (easy job with a Stanley knife) and an extra washer (supplied) is needed to raise the givi mounting mushrooms a couple of mm. Fitting instructions will be supplied with givi fixings to ensure the top box fits.

Overlander

(sorry for the picture overload!)

If you are interested in one then either PM me or reply to this thread to let me know. By registering your interest youre not committing to a sale or anything, I just want to get a rough idea of how many (if any!) I should make. If I get enough interest, Ill make up a batch and get back to you to see if you would like to buy one. Probably looking at third week in January to be ready for posting.

Prices

Small Adventurer - 55.00
Medium Explorer - 65.00
Large Overlander - 75.00

Postage in the UK for the small Adventurer rack will be 5.00 and for the Explorer and Overlander rack it will be 7.50 (due to size). Im happy to post outside of the UK, but Ill have to check prices on an individual basis and find the cheapest way. If you are on the list for a radiator guard and want one of these, I can hold onto the guard and post both the rack and guard together to save on postage.

For the givi fixings its an extra 15 on top of the price.

If youve got any questions or want to know anything, just ask away. Feedback always welcome!

Cheers,

Al
