Reason for having this hose plugged?

I'm currently doing some maintenance on my bike..
I found a hose from my airbox that doesn't lead anywhere.. And the hose is plugged in the end? (See attached images, for which hose)

Is it any reason why this cable is plugged? Should it be plugged?
I saw a thread where Kev explained the airbox, and it looks like it can be the water overflow drain hole.. But I'm unsure. But why should this hose be plugged in that case? To not let any dust in and only open the plug it is any water in the airbox, or what?

Maybe it is hard to see which hose it is, but I'l do a try.. Took the photos in a hurry..

(It is not where I took the photo that it is plugged, it is in the other end of the hose)

I had the same thing with mine when i first got my Tenere.

I took the bung out of the bottom and a fair bit of watery oil came out. Well not that much but the hose was backed up by about 5cm.

It's the drain from the very bottom of the airbox and i don't know how the oil/water got in there. I have left the plug out so it can drain. As far as i can tell the plug is there just in case you go through a deep river.

I don't do that so i can't see any way water would get back up the hose.

Mike the tube drains from the <clean-side> of the airbox.

if you leave the bung out, you will draw in dirty air into the airbox - the damage to your engine could be significant, especially in dusty conditions. You've done right to leave it in.

There should only be oil in there, some bikes will have more than others, it comes from the crankcase breather tube/box that vents into the airbox, then any oil drains down into the tube you see filled with oil. If you have water, then check your air filter, it may have gotten wet and need attention.

As a rule of thumb, I measure what comes out, and put clean oil into the filler cap of the same volume - it keeps the oil levels right for me.

Ok, thanks for your reply. Then this is normal I think.. I thought at first that a previous owner had unplugged the hose and plugged it with the little black plastic plug.. I guess dust and dirt can find their way up in the hose if it is unplugged? I think I leave me plugged in that case.. Don't want some dirty air that do not pass the filter and can get into the motor.. But this is just a thought from my side..

Just wanted to know if somebody else had this solution or if it was a previous owner, as said

It's standard from the factory. For the reason Gulgo explained.
