Brings back fond memories of a Barry Way trip ... including helping to pick a GS Rider up on one corner

Loved his comment ... "If you don't want to drop them - just don't ride them".

The Seldom Seen Service Station was a such hoot. Just amazing.

Hi Peds

I'm over the East side of town at Hampton Park ... interestingly I was out your way at Na Na Goon just a week ago ... unfortunately it was far too wet to ride out !!!

As noted in my signature I have a XT660R and a (relatively) new Super Tenere ... the S10 being my "every day ride" whereas the R has been consigned to the more serious Adventure Touring role. My riding buddy is a fellow workmate who also has a XT660Z and a Triumph 1200 Explorer in his stable.

Over the last few years we have spent a little time in the Victorian High Country, done the Oodnadatta Track and completed the Birdsville Loop. At the moment we are starting to plan next years trip ... from Darwin down the Gibb River Road to Broome then across the Tanami Desert Track to Alice Springs ... we are considering shipping the bikes up to Darwin.

Hmmm ... on the Birdsville trip the R (and I) had a little sleep along the way (not gonna bore you with the embarrassing details) and I do need to do a few repairs before getting it back on the road

A couple of years back we assisted with organising a local 660 group ride but it's difficult to get everyone involved around a specific date. We had hoped that one of the local dealers (or god forbid even Yamaha themselves) might take up the challenge but I suppose that was asking way far tooooo much. Hell HD know understand how it all works and even Triumph appreciate the value of committed owners but it does seem the Japanese marketing machines simply don't get it

Maybe they just don't really want a group of us talking about spares pricing and warranty issues

Anyway maybe it's time to consider thinking about a quick XT group day jaunt when summer comes around.

We have a favourite route ... Lilydale ... Warburton ... Marysville (with a mandatory Bakery stop) ... and home. Not too long, not too challenging but still with a bit of riding interest.

Hi Pete,

Sounds like a plan, keep me posted. I would like to do the Oodnadatta Track myself, being an old git now I am a member of Ulysses and their next AGM is in Alice so that may be the time to do it
