Kev Mod feedback
Not sure if this is the right forum, so mods please move if you wish.
I just wanted to give some feedback on the Kev Mod which I fitted today, and say thanks for some excellent service. I had a 2004 XTR a few years ago, which had the usual dreadful low-speed fuelling, to the point where wet roundabouts were a bum-clenching experience. Last year I picked up an 06, which was miles better, but as I put the miles on it I realised it was still not perfect - specifically, snatchy pick-up from idle to part-throttle, and surging at steady speeds at small throttle openings. I ordered the Kev Mod through this site on 14 July, Kev confirmed it was despatched on 15 July and I received it on 20 July. Not bad for a journey literally half-way round the world I got some free time and fitted it today. Standard cans and no intake mods, so I set it to 2 o'clock as per Kev's advice. Results after a brief but thorough test: pick-up off idle is much improved and the snatchiness is 90% cured. In fact, it is now no better or worse than any FI bike I have had, single, twin or multi, so that's a win. Also, I had a run in traffic at a constant 25 mph in 3rd gear, when before it would have been surging badly. Surging is now minimal or non-existent. Other people have commented on this, so nothing new here. But the best thing of all is it is now as eager off the line as my ancient XT600E. With the E, I can give it a few revs, dump the clutch, and it is immediately driving hard and ready for a handful. The R always needed a lot more revs and feeding the clutch in slowly if it wasn't to stall. The R now behaves like the E, and I can't tell you how pleased I am with that. In addition, giving it a handful at higher revs results in a much more immediate shove. It seems wrong to say this, but Kev's mod has made the XTR behave like a well set-up carb bike. Nowt wrong with that I keep a careful record of fuel consumption, and up until now I have recorded 63 mpg overall. I'll be watching for any change to this, and I'm expecting it to drop a bit, but frankly I'm not too bothered. The difference is worth it. One more thing - at the time I was without internet at home (and my work PC blocks file-sharing sites amongst others), but Kev was very patient in mailing me a copy of the installation instructions so I didn't have to wait for my connection to be restored. Kev's a top bloke, and the mod is brilliant - for just over 45GBP, it's brilliant value. Kev, thank you for my new bike.

Great description well done!! Listen, Kev is simply a genius and all of his mods are top class and well tested and proven. I had all of his mods on my bike which transformed it from a dangerous pogo stick into a truly fun ride. Try his front fork mods too, which give a much better feel to the front end and far more confidence. I had never made any mods to my bikes before but Kev soon changed all that, he is simply a GREAT fellow.
