Smile Floppy Mirrors Slack at High Speed

Ok no laughing at this thread.... my floppy mirrors are doing my head in lol

Just got an 07 XTX and I noticed the mirrors are slightly different to my older 05 model which were solid as a rock. I've adjusted them at the base so all's good there but at the mirror end they seem very slack and tend to move out of position at high speed. Having pulled the outer rubber sleeve off I can see no way of tightening the actual mirror end up as it seems to be sealed. Am I missing something here or is it a case of get some better ones?

There is normally a ball and socket joint inside the wing mirror which has a spring loaded nut onto the ball. over time miine loosened meaning the wing mirror vibrated. I popped the mirror out of the plastic outer and tightened up, popped mirror back in with some masking tape and test rode the bike, took a few attempts as too tight or loose have vibrations
