Brake caliper slider pin bent.
Hi all.
Whilst I was stripping my brakes, I found that the slider pin, (biggest of the 2), on the right hand front caliper, was bent, which caused it to be virtually seized in. I could do with sourcing one of these, but my local dealer reckons that they are not an item listed separately to the caliper, therefore, I'd have to buy a new caliper. I've no idea how it got bent, as it's the first time I've messed with these brakes. Does anyone know where I might get hold of one, or experienced the same problem? Thanks! |

Should have mentioned that it's an 08 model 660Z Tenere, with the standard Brembos on ... sorry!

That can't be right, he's trying to rip you off,
Ring another dealer It's cheaper for me to get Toyota parts posted from a dealer 60 miles away than it is to use the dealer in the town I live You must be able to get the pins separate, I'd never use that dealer again if I was you

Unfortunately the slider pins aren't available as separate parts. Bummer! As you say your bent pin is part of the more expensive (like 300) piston side, if it was the smaller one it's part of the bracket which is a lot cheaper.
![]() Shame also that it's the right caliper as that unique to the XTZ, making finding a secondhand one harder! Unless you find a nice helpful person comes along, who has upgraded to a WP front end, and has only used their left hand caliper... Uberthumper, JMo etc. |

Thanks for your advice.
When I finally separated the arm from the caliper, I found that the pin was also rusty, which is the likely cause of it seizing, rather than the deflection of the pin. It's more or less straight, now and cleaned up, but the coating has gone, due to the rust. It seems ok, so I'm gonna run with it and keep an eye on it. in the meantime ... if anyone were to wander by, that's done a WP upgrade and has a right hand caliper that they weren't using, then I'd be very interested! Thanks |
