Member's tyre life

Just had this idea to compare what we all get out of our tyres in terms of mileage and life, this should be helpful to new buyers when deciding what new tyres to get. So I have prepared a template to use, just cut and paste it in a post in this thread once the tyres are on and then come back to it when your tyre's are knackered to write down the mileage and other comments:

XTX/XTR:
TYRE MAKE / MODEL:
DATE FITTED:
DATE REPLACED:
TOTAL DURATION (in months hopefully):
FRONT / REAR / BOTH / PRICE PAID (with or w/out fitting charge):
BOUGHT FROM:
TYPICAL RIDING (TOWN/MOTORWAY/COMMUTING/OFF ROAD):
MILEAGE WHEN TYRE FITTED:
FINAL MILEAGE AFTER TYRES ARE WORN:
TOTAL MILEAGE OBTAINED:
FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE:

In the unfortunate event of a non repairable puncture, please make a note of it in the final comments

Darrel you go first

Jimbob don't forget to return to this thread when you fit the next set of tyre, I suppose by now you have an idea of what to try next, as you've said there is nothing wrong with the handling and grip of the original pirelli in the dry, but they do have rather a short life and square off at 500 miles. cheers

new ones due any day, after many years of commited pirelli use i have decided to try a bit of the opposition mainly down to cost.one of the reasons the xt was bought was to try to keep the costs of owning a bike down a bit but still maintain the fun factor.(and keep me licence) but at 1500 miles a rear i think thants a bit silly..and expensive.anyway ive gone for a set of metzler rennsports at 125 the pair .any opinions on them so we know what to expect greatly appreciated and will update as soon as as they have been mildly abused.

FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: ON MY 4TH SET, CAN'T KNOCK THEM FOR QUALITY, DURABILITY, GRIP, CONFIDENCE, LOOK

Right, I have got a special discount from Essential Rubber, on the promise I would address more clients to them, if they will have at least 10 clients from XT660.com from now til the end of the year, the 10% discount I've got today will be extended to all riders from this forum.

FWR quoted me 173 fitted for both Avon Distanzia, Essential Rubber instead quoted me 160 fitted, however you won't believe this but when I got there today I picked up a nail on my rear (worn) tyre and arrived right outside the shop when my tyre got flat how lucky was that?

So.... after a bit of negotiation I told the owner about XT660.com and the amount of London riders in the forum and he gave me an extra 10% discount which would have been 141, but because my rear was punctured he had to give me a new tube too so in the end I paid an extra 2.99 for the tube

So guys anyone from London who will use Essential Rubber or has already used please send me a copy of your receipt, when I get 10 of these I will go back to Mick and let him sign the deal black on white. You can't beat that bargain

P.s.: Although I didn't fill a previous similar form I have kept record of the mileage I've got out of the previous worn tyres, and the back one I've fitted at 21.659 miles and replaced at 25833 = 4174 miles while..... wait for it..

The Avon I had on the front was not a Distanzia but an Azaro ProXtreme Rain and that lasted me about 9500 miles, i.e. it outlived 3 of my rear tyres!!

Superb!!

The attached pic is a mate of mine posing the new tyres fitted today
Noticed how everything is black & white but the bike is still red? You can do that with Picasa, so go and download yourself a free copy HERE
