16t front sprocket??

Guys a little help please

Looking to get a 16T front sprocket for my Tenere but cant seem to find anyone who sells them???

Ive looked at BandC express, Wemoto and a few other places but they all only list a 15T or 14T.

Maybe you can't find one 'cos nobody needs one?

What's your plan?

Have you considered a smaller rear sprocket instead ?

Note that the standard final drive gear ratio is already quite 'long'... too long imo: the Ten will never red line in 5th gear and as such even with standard sprockets you will never reach the theoretical calculated top speed.

Do the maths on www.gearingcommander.com

cheers guys ill look at the suggestions.

I'm looking the teneres speedo to be correct, 70mph on the clock reads 61mph on GPS which is massively out, that and I've a few long distance rides coming up and want to be able to cruise a bit better and sit at a real 70mph.

Did this mod on my old R and had no issues and it basically corrected the speedo to GPS accuracy

Ah ... yes. According gearingcommander a 16t sprocket will drop the RPMs at 70mph from 4491 to 4210 rpm.

Did you consider installing a speedohealer? Costs the same as 4 sprockets...

As SingleMinded has said, the standard gearing is fairly tall anyway, and many people go the other way and lower the gearing (which makes the speedo even further out, of course, but you can't have everything). You ought to consider that if you raise the gearing the bike may not cruise as well at the speeds you mention, as the engine will be further down the torque curve at the lower revs.

It's a quick and easily reversed mod, so there's no harm in trying, but my feeling is that Yamaha have got the gearing about as high as it will reasonably go.

Why not fit a Speedo Healer ?

Seams a bit extreme to choke the cruising speeds to correct a speedo fault ?

I tried a 15T and found the bike was running a little too high in the revs for motorway cruising, and it hit the range a bit too. Can't imaging where a 16T would lead.

You could always go a few teeth at the rear ? or chuck the clocks away and fit a TrailTech unit ? But I'd look at the speedo healer first
