I thought l could hear a funny metal noise the other day.
On closer inspection during a rare maintenance period in the garage l found the slop in the cush drive was not rotaional but axial. ie. the wheel wobbled side ways.
Probably my fault for not enough cleaning after many deep puddle and lots of mud.
This is the collar that fits inside the bearing with the chipped inner race stuck on one end.
This is the remains of the cage once holding the individual bearings and located inside the bearing itself. I found it somewhere inside the cush hub.
$350 later, all fixed and it was an easy job.
ps. the cush rubbers were not too bad, certainly not as far gone as the first time l replaced them but some more are on their way anyway.
Best l do some more regular maintenance in the future.
