What's been done to my bike?

Hey chaps

I bought my bike used a few days ago. I knew it had a K&N filter (from the sticker), and a previous dealer that serviced the bike said the owner has mentioned something to do with exhaust internals.

Messing around with the bike yesterday, I thought the air box seemed odd, and looking around this forum I realised the snorkel had been removed. Not a problem in itself, but annoying not to have the part. Anyway, I've not seen any fuelling changes. I'm guessing if the guy has gone to the trouble he has, he must have done something to compensate for the air mods. Can anyone tell me what to look for and where???

Thanks! I'll post up what I find - if anything!

The snorkel is simply good riddance mate and no point asking for it as you would then remove it again in 5 seconds, it simply serves to strangle the air intake to remove a few decibels. Take some pics and post them here if you want us to understand what the previous owner has done to the bike as we are not mind readers hahaha. Have fun!!

Thanks mate.

I don't know where Kev's fuel mod would be, or what DIY alternative there could be, so I was just after a clue as to what to look for. That is, unless he just increased the air flow but didn't change the fuelling....

Sure. But for all I know, the previous owner has already done the mod. I just don't know cos I don't know what I'm looking for!

Look at the air flow TEMP sensor blue and black wire trace it back to the ECU small black box with a adjusting knob kev MOD cut into that wire.

I can't see any obvious changes.

Would it have made any improvements had the previous owner done the filter and snorkel mod and simply messed around with the CO settings?

OK. No-one has commented on whether or not it looks like there is any fuel modification, so I'll take that as there isn't.

So if the previous owner has simply installed a K&N filter and remove the snorkel:

a) Is there no performance or fuelling improvement at all and he was wasting his time?
b) Is the bike going to be running lean enough to do any damage, or will the system compensate sufficiently for such a small airflow mod?

Thanks!

Ok, IF the previous owner has simply removed the snorkel and fitted K and N in place of the standard filter then you have no need to panic or to do anything. The mixture does not change. You have simply improved the air flow so the engine now breathes slighly better.
