Front wheel

I took the front wheel off today, to change a tyre over . Once away from the bike I was amazed at how much it weighs !!!!!!!!!!!!!! jeez it nearly gave me a pulled back. Why so B' leedin heavy, whats the need. I guess the rear is a similar story.
I now see why people are going down the route of a WP front end with KTM wheel

the first time i had the wheels off i nearly had a heart attack! i instantly thought i will change them to excel rims and talon hubs....until i saw the price! (excel rims aren't too bad, but you best be wealthy for the Talon hubs)

SURELY...there has to be a cheaper option?? putting a KTM front wheel in is fine...if you go through with WP forks & different brakes. There has to be other, lighter wheels and hubs that fit the Ten?

You could get new rims laced up to the hubs you have, assuming the number of spokes is the same!

yeah, think ive seen Ten's with excel rims & standard hubs so that should work.

what really rustles my jimmies are the hubs....there big, heavy and ugly!!

i guess finding a donor wheel/hub isnt that easy, because its all to do with the postion of the discs isnt it? (and the sprocket for the rear).

wheel spaces can be made but if the discs dont line up with the calipers then your screwed.

I like stuff to be sturdy and robust - gives me confidence. Victorian engineering every time, none of this light weight stronger than steel stuff.
