            Security Rim Locks 
             
           
             Rim sizes are Fr 21 x 1.85 and Rear 17 x 2.75.
              
            
            
           Anybody fitted rim locks and if so which ones/sizes? Thx.

             Rim locks are needed with a powerfull bike or very low tire pressures (<1.2bar). What are you planning to do.

             I've got one in the front, because it came with the KTM wheel. Think it's a standard KTM plastic one, no idea what size. Don't have one in the back, and never bothered putting one in my Yam front.
              
            
            
           Haven't had any issues in a year of rallying and a whole load of trail-riding, ran as low as 18psi at the Ryedale, but more generally about 23-25psi. I'd agree with Phil's thinking that you'll start getting pinch flats and/or denting rims before you spin tyres on the rims.

             All true, but it's good practice!
              
            
            
           A spinning tyre that then grips and spins can easily slip enough to pull a valve out. They really throw the balance out so not for anything other than off road.

            nor me...as you said why bother on a big single with knobblies?!?
              
            
            
            Also depends a little on trye construction...my rear Mitas has quite stiff side walls so i will drop that a few PSI lower than i might a tyre with not so stiff side walls. (im on about pinch flats rather than ripping the valve out)  |
