New 12v Supply in TopBox

I bought a 12v socket from Ultimate Mobiles with the intention of placing it in my top box - for charging netbook, camera and so on, while on the move.

The cable, at one metre long, would be just long enough for the distance from my Tenere top box to battery, but i'd need to unbolt it from the battery to take the top box off.

Therefore, I cut the cable and lengthened it will the addition of a pair of connectors from maplin ( here and here)

I decided on drilling a hole in the bottom of the box, but not the mounting plate/rack and instead fed it behind then under the seat.

A few pictures:

Under the seat, with the connector hanging out to the right:

Inside the topbox before tidying up:

And the only visible bit after completion:

Nice job. I did more or less exactly the same on mine - except I saved some of the wiring effort by buying a socket which had a plug to match the Optimate lead I'd already fitted to the battery.

I put mine through the bottom of the box right at the front edge, rather than in the middle.
