'New' DL1000 Strom.......
Have a look ->
http://suzukibulletin.co.uk/2012/10/...d-at-intermot/
So, it's a new model, but I can see many features that are evident in others bikes.... I really don't like those sticky out rear hangers,, I don't like them on my Tiger and the Strom ones look like they've come from the same supplier.... Just like the Versys headlight.... And the whole 'beak with shoulders onto the tank' thing... that's never been done before. Oh sorry, yes it has! OK so I'm not a fan of this concept bike, it's got no originality, no independent style. But it might just be a very good bike. What do you think ?

Well it doesn't appear
To have the oil filter shoved at the front sticking out like a donkey's appendage so it can't be too bad....
I would love to see how many Vstrom owner's globally have taken out the oil filter on rocks and sticks. I know of at least one person that it has happened to. And they weren't happy. Not at all. In fact you could say they were unhappy. |

Uncanny. As for the actual bike, I'm sure it will be a perfectly competent luxo-barge, and almost certainly better value than the BMUU. Can't work myself up to actually being interested in that sort of bike though... maybe I'm not old enough

Oh ****! As an owner of a DL1000 V Strom for the last 7 years - my favourite bike of all time - who has been crying out for the last 5 years for Suzuki to update it ..... I'll find it very tempting. If it's better than the current model then I'll be well pleased. I like the looks, don't care in the least if it's been done before, by them or anyone else, and the issue re taking out projecting oil filters will never be an issue for 95% of riders (it clearly is road focused).
As luck would have it ..... I'm at the Intermot tomorrow and Friday, so should be able to get a good look and, hopefully, a sit on it. Bikes are often different 'in the flesh'. |

Ah, so some proper pictures then,,,, and a real appraisal of the bike. I don't have a problem with a bikes short-comings, as much as where manufacturers try to sell the whole 'world traveller' concept on a bike that really isn't up to the job (someone said to me "these Tigers [XC 800], are brilliant off-road", and they just aren't. I wouldn't take mine anywhere near the stuff the Tenere has been. ) You can still love a bike, but accept it's problem areas (I ride a Tenere for gods sake!)

Of course if I'd actually bothered reading the article rather than just looking at the picture, I'd have seen the bit that says

GULGo - ''sell the whole 'world traveller' concept''. Thanks for that, I'd very much like to read that Suzuki promo piece. Where did you find it? Can you put the link up. Many thanks.
