Cush Drive and Chain Maintenance

HOW MANY KM/MILES DO YOU GET FROM YOU CUSH RUBBERS?

I'm too ashamed to say, should have been on my second or third set by the sound of it.

I have heard a few grumbles about the cush drive rubbers in the latest xtz.
Being new to this l didnt really know how worn, worn was. Or how much play was acceptable at the rear hub.
After seeing a video on youtube just now l am ordering two sets first thing in the morning.
I have just clocked 25k and my dealer/mechanic has not said anything about them, even though they replaced the chain and sprockets recently during a big service.

Now to the chain.
I keep checking the slack as per the owners manual and it's fine.
But gosh does it look loose. I know it has to allow for rear wheel travel but has anyone experimented with tension or been able to check it under full suspension compression?

Are there aftermarket rubbers available?
I do remember a mod for them which l will go search for now.

All useful comments and info appreciated, by me and l'm sure many others.

Was it my cush drives you saw on youtube?

Supposedly they are quite worn. I sent that video to my dealer, and they are going to be putting in new ones when I go to have the swing arm replaced next week

Wemoto in the uk sell a pattern version. They seem slightly tougher than the Yam ones, but the best fix is still packing them with bits of inner tube.

Chain just needs to be set like that. It does tighten up under compression.

I made my own cush drive rubbers from a sheet of 25mm
thick 95A urethane.... Made them slightly wider by 2mm
took rubber grease to get it back togeather...
have done 7000kms on them , they are still as tight as
the day I put them in... done a trye change 2000ks ago
theres no visable compression on them but they were
slightly easyer to get in 2nd time...

" 25mm think is slightly to thick.... 20mm would be better "

$80 AUS for a new set today and an afternoon of much need cleaning the drive train.
Really looking forward to getting my centre stand, hard work getting the wheel back in while the bike is jacked up on the side stand.

At 26k l think it might be wise to check them very soon.
Mine were 25k old and shagged, should have done them at 20k.
Will do them at 10 or 15 next time given their cheap.

Changed mine at 12000 miles with 60% off road. Pity no one makes them in poly like you get for shocker bushes.
