Noob Question
Hi, I have a 55 xtx and there are product logos all over the plastics. They are not decals - or if they are, a previous owner has put a coat of clear over the top. Is this a Yamaha production paint job or has it been done aftermarket ?? I'd show pics if someone can tell me how. And apologies if this is already answered somewhere and I've missed it

+1: Yamaha stickers come off with hair dryer/patience/WD40/Mr Sheen furniture polish. Clear coat is going to be a b*st*rd..............

If they're lacquered over, as has been said, you're in trouble!
To post photos see here... http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=10380 Then we can have a look at what you got... |

Yeah, I only just got it last week and the previous owner wasn't using it and had just left it parked up for some time. Seat is a bit rough as well, both jobs on 'the list'

Well you know what, those decals are quite an acquired taste and I really see nothing wrong with them, so I'd leave them as they are unless you really hate them it will cost a few quid to replace the 2 tank cowlings.
A seat cover cost around 38 you just unstaple the old one lay the new one in place and then use a staple gun to secure it. But that is a job best left to a seat upholster or you could make a dog dinner of it with creases all over. The rust on your spokes can lead to weakness in the spokes so get it scraped and protect them with ACF50 or whatever it's called. Good luck |

It's not really that I mind the decals, it's just the seat cowl paint has a bubble and if I got it redone - I was wondering whether I'd be able to replace exactly as it was (from Yamaha).
