Talking Tenere: 1 week on..RELAXED

Hi Folks
Thought I would share a quick review/first impressions of my first week with the 660 Ten.
Picked it up last Friday in grey, drizzly weather. Fueled up and had a look under the seat...no room there then! A short run out of town to the motorway and steady away. I first noticed I was smiling, that there was very little noise and it got up to speed much quicker than anticipated and also what a great view you get. 60 miles home with a variety of traffic and roadworks (Mway). I was pleasantly surprised at the performance - suits me fine, no dramas, pulls well but is relaxed. Quick cup of tea and drop off the red key (scary if you lose that!!) then off to the coast another 80 miles, still pleased, still smiling :-) a mixture of A & B roads bedding in the tyres. Next day got partner on the back which she sort of liked. The bike took it well my riding and braking not brill as not carried passenger for years, will get more chance to practice this summer hopefully. Rode home Sunday tyres bedded in. This bike does give me confidence in all aspects esp slow speed riding and feels well planted at higher speeds.. Got the F. Trip flashing on the way home so filled up and worked out to 60.8mpg. Ready for my weeks commute, 60 miles a day all M way and dual carriageway. Great criusing at M way speeds and it does surprise how easily it gets to 70, 80- relaxed!. Road works at 3 -4000rpm shows some surging but from what I read is fixable with the Kev mod but not necessary at the moment and dont want to affect warranty. Also the "buffeting" noticeable but bearable, mainly on my chest. Again a lot posted about this but no absolute fix from what I can gather and not keen on deflector so will wait a while. Anyway filled up again and this time recorded 63mpg so at higher speed it is economical and good for me. So 600 miles in the week and impressions in a nutshell:
Need to find an easy way to get on/off
Not much high up to fasten bungies to but managed to get a tail pack on.
Runs great, just what I needed - no licence loser but does the do.
Looks great, very imposing so people know you are there.
Economical 60ish
Comfortable 1 or 2 up.
Surging and buffeting as mentioned.

Will keep posted over the coming miles. Great site for owners or would be owners. Have a read of the riding tips section some really interesting comments/theories on riding in wind.

No Farkles as yet. Maybe luggage to come eventually and decided against centre stand for now.

Jim

Nice one toenail,
One of thing I love about my x, it doesn't matter what time of year it is, there are all fun, when I had my sport bikes, I hated the snow and ice, now I don't care, I've got a set.of.tyres,heated grips and bark busters,
Anyway enjoy this site, one learns so much.
Take care.
