Belchite,decimated village,Spain(Part One)
A couple of weeks ago my buddy and I headed off on a two day trip to Spain.
We left to take some pictures of Belchite,a village decimated in the Spanish Civil War. If one has a read at this link you will be educated as to what happened. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belchite We left heading from Asson in 64800 Fr(I on the XTZ and my buddy on his Super Tenere)and rode up to the frontier of Spain at Col du Pourtalet,a great ride in itself. We stopped there for a coffee break content in the knowledge that we'd be gone for two days. We watched other groups of motos pass by...a group of Italian plated Ducati Multistrada's scoot by along with a group of UK plated motos about 5 mins later. We crew up and head off down into Spain stopping in Huesca for munchies at the good old faithful McDonalds...in air con as it was 32c outside...Great!! We head on for Belchite by any road that is not an autoroute....stopping here and there for a Coca Cola break....and arrive at about 1700hrs.... We saunter around the village and take a few snaps. One gets a sense of a ruined village ruined by time and weather...but no...ruined on purpose by war which was not that long ago in a 'civilised' Europe!! We head to the first chapel...this is the view from the chapel door that looks out onto what was once a central thoroughfare... To the LHS... [IMG]  [/IMG]

Hi Ohlins, we're starting in cherbour, onto la roche-sur-yon, perhaps grand plage and lacanua(fantastic spot) then onto bardenas real, ordesa, lavarosi.
well that's the general outline. 3 weeks, 3 peeps, 1 motorhome, 1 exc450, a sense of adventure! what could possibly go wrong?. have you any suggestions? |
