Grey Plastics painted black?

Hello all.
I'm sure I saw a thread about the grey plastics being painted black but I can't for the life of me remember where.
I'm thinking of getting a black high front fender for my Khaki bike and reckon that it would look better if they were all painted to match hmmmmm?

I have painted mine. However if you think I'm the man to speak to you obviously didn't have a close enough look at how badly painted mine are

Was going to suggest that, then realised I had no idea what Colin's forum name was.

I'm still hoping Yamaha will introduce new color bikes with different colored panels at some point

Hi I painted mine black after speaking with a few people on the forum, a guy from Africa & Jmo, i followed instructions regarding rubbing down and primers and best paint to use etc including consulting the local spray paint specialist, but regardless of how you do it and what you use there is the problem of the type of plastics used by Yamaha which will not allow proper adhesion of any type of spray paint, it will go on and in general its okay but if you scraped your fingernail across the top it will come off apart from the plastic piece located beside the exhaust headers this will take the paint properly and it doesnt come off when scraped by a fingernail, this is because this panel is made from a different type of plastic to no doubt deal with the heat from the exhaust.
Just do it and besides you just need to give it a spray over when its got a bit scraped.

Sorry Crosshair i dont have any pics or the ability to upload any at present, my bike is black and when i painted the panels it looks much, much better and although i alluded to the fact that the paint can be scrapped off with a finger nail i have yet to touch mine up after almost two years!
