Bike update.....

So I managed to get a good look at the ten in the light today and i am absolutely in awe of this machine. She has taken a hit from a 4x4, slid down the road and sustained the most minimal damage that to be honest unless you were looking for it you wouldnt notice it.

There is scraping on the rear right hand pasenger footpeg which you cant see when the peg is down.

The ball end on the brake leaver is ground flat....no biggy there.

Rear brake lever pedal bit (bit you push with your foot) is bent up a little....easily bent back with a bit of scaffold pole.

The main concern I had was this....

Not sure how clear it is bit if you can see there is a little black spot where the tank has been slightly ground away, Its only by 1mm or less. Ive tilted the bike on its side and nothing seems to leak.

On closer inspection it looks like the radiator cap leaked into the grey plastic when the bike was on its side and it came out of the hole in the plastic. What do you guys reckon?

Also shall I fill the bit of the tank thats been ground away with some external sealent or tiger seal of something?

She refering back to one of scottnets posts about the navXT, not only have we learnt that the xt is stronger than a fiat 500 but its also stronger than a landcruiser haha
Cheers all

Chris, there is a picture of one of the Eoropean bikers who has hit the back of a car and literally smashed that whole corner off the tank. I would conservatively recon that the material in that area is a good 4mm at least. Also in the moulding process that corner will have more material in any case.

Put some filler on for your own peace of mind but personally I think you will be OK.
We can all keep an eye open for a spare, you never know my first bikes' tank might comeup!

I'll have a search later and see if I can find the picture to set your mind at ease.

Hope your bruising is easing. Stay safe

I would share steveD's assesment all should be well

the broken tank was on an austrailian bike, he ran into the back of a right turning irish tourist in auz. the odd thing was the law deemed the driver at fault which is at odds with the legal way here, uk. go figure?

Tough as old boots....

Yes, I'll share the common opinion here.

There was a guy on here giving one away a while ago, from Yorkshire... then TripleTom had a 'spare', not sure what happened to that (might be the same tank!)
