Tank side protection

Went out for my first real offroad session this weekend and came back with a badly scratched tank! No falls or anything, just the inside of my legs rubbing against the sides of the tank. A few hundred small scratches and quite a few big ones that wouldn't come off after a round of cleaning/polishing.

I can't be the only one bothered about the scratching (or..?) so what have you guys done to protect it?

I came across THIS which looked quite smart? Has anyone put anything like that one the side of their tank?

Oh, and a few pics
