Scotland back home to Thailand on my XT660Z.
After spending the last 10 months with planning, Visas, bike prep, and trying to sort the dreaded China part its all completed, deposits paid and only the Chinese visa to be sorted (3 months before entry date into China). The route will be from my parents house in Scotland to my home on the border with Laos in Thailand. The route will be approx 45 days to the Chinese border, 37 days in China through Tibet to Laos and 7 days in Laos then home about 20th October. I have just returned from a 7 day visit to the UK to work on the bike trying to get all the work done before i return in July to start the trip. I will be riding throught the following countries from sea level to 5300m in Tibet. UK France Belgium Germany Austria Hungary Romania Bulgaria Turkey Georgia Russia Kazakhstan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan China Laos Thailand I hope the XT660Z performs better than the Garmin Zumo 660, which has been returned twice to the UK for repairs [ expensive crap] Eric |

Hi
Booked my flights now will arrive 30 June, will spend 10 days finishing the bike and riding around the Yorkshire dales and the lakes, probably base myself in Austwick [ spent my first 20 years here] see old mates, and drinking good beer after 15 years in NZ and 5 in Thailand, it will be great to drink some proper stuff. So if you see a black Z on the A65 with black ARD cases chances it will be me getting some KM on the bike. Eric |

I had my Zumo 550 replaced four times, the charging cradle replaced five times. The one spare part I carry on
all my trips is a second charging cradle. Worryingly mission critical.
Interesting trip, wish I was coming with you. Tim

Thanks Kev
The bike i bought in the UK was reg 09/11 with 1000miles at a good price, i was a bit shocked [pissed off] when i found out it was a 2008 Model, so i sent Yamaha a ****ty letter incuding the VIN number they said the rectifier mod had been done ??? Is there anyway you can tell if the Mod has been done?? Is grease a premium product in Italy where they make these bikes or dont the lazy c--ts like to get their hands dirty??? The head stock bearings and swing arm bushes hadnt any grease at all and the rectifier plug was also dry, they had managed to put some oil in the engine so i guess thats a plus point.
