Indicator Problem - Everything flashing!

Hello one and all. I am a new member to the site and just bought my first XT660R last weekend.

I am having a problem currently where when i put either direction of indicator on, all 4 indicators flash as does the headlight. I have checked the fuses ,all fine, checked the indicator relay, seems ok, and have sprayed a lot of GT85 in the switches on the handlebar, the relay, and indicator connections.

does anyone have any idea what may be the problem?

Sounds like you might have a short circuit in the left hand switch assembly. Take it apart and have a look for anything obvious, then check continuity of each affected circuit with a multimeter. Failing that, this sort thing can often be attributed to a bad earth, if a circuit can't get a good earth it will try and take the next easiest route to earth, usually through another circuit.

And welcome to XT660.com too!

That's brilliant. Thanks for that. Luckily I have just bought a multimeter from Ebay as the Haynes manual says basically if you have an indicator problem and the fuses are fine get testing with one.

If the head light is flashing as well..
It could be a earth issue...
