Possible next bike...?
Been pondering re-entering trials after a ten year break, but this time pre-65 style. Went to look at this today...



Greeves TFS 250 Scottish, very competitive in its day (1959). Always admired Bert Greeves' leftfield approach to bike design; cast alloy headstock and front frame section, leading link forks etc.

What do you reckon?

that is beautiful! although i would probably bob it and ride it around every day

It's actually a bit rough, but that's how I like 'em! It's got some ISDT history too. Bobbing it - I ask you!!

rough is good, means more shed time you should know, you have land rovers just like me. I am all about bobbed vintage singles at the moment, don`t know why, just obsessing

Fun they are! I started out on a Fantic 240 when I was 14, I remember competing against riders on the above bikes at Pateley Bridge in the 80's.

Ah, perfect excuse to show off my twin-shock...

Not really eligible for Pre '65... an '84 to be exact (plus I retrofitted a TLM220 disc front end so it would actually stop!) - I refurbished it last year while my leg was still wonky, and it makes the most excellent trail bike - you could ride it anywhere you like and people just smile!

That's the advantage with old school off-road bikes, even ramblers seem to be interested in them! Plus twin shock/pre-65 trails bikes you can actually ride (with a daylight MOT), unlike the modern stuff, because they have the luxury of a seat (of sorts).
