Warming up

Hello,I'm just wondering the correct warm up procedure for a xt660x before riding,do you leave idling for a couple of minutes then gentle riding for a few more minutes? Any help appreciated

The only bikes I have ever bothered warming up have been 2 strokes. Otherwise I just get on, start it, in gear and ride it.

I start my bike up then wheel it out of the garage, push the door remote, pull the clutch in, when the door hits the grounds put it into gear & I ride off.

No need to warm motors up these days, just don't flog it until the motor is at running temp.

Personally I start my moto, put my kit on and ride....there'll be at least some temperature in it before riding....

Why not for all the fuel it uses?....IMO it just makes sense ...

Fire up bike. Put on gloves which takes about 30 seconds. Ride about 20 yards to main road in 1st. Ride first mile or so using probably not more than 2/3 throttle & speed around 60mph. It doesn't seem right thrashing a bike for the first 2 or 3 miles, although I hear what Kev is saying....

Take my big chain off, roll to end of my drive, turn the key, fire the beast up & we are away, sometimes on one wheel

You need to be gentle until the engine is warm so I start up and ride off, just keeping revs and engine load to a minimum for the first 10 minutes or so, and then gradually speeding up....
