Question Questions about things related to handlebars

Hi Guys.

I had a few basic questions about a few items I'm looking to purchase, for a 09 xt660x.

I've read most threads, that the seach brought back on handlebars, levers barkbusters etc.

I had a few specific questions, which will help move along my research and any answers are much appreciated

Without beating around the bush:

1) I'm looking to change up my levers for an adjustable set. Although they cost a bit I do like the look and quality of ASV. Has anyone fitted these and know the model numbers? I'm thinking of full length clutch and shortie brake. I've asked ASV they had no model for the 660x directly. Other suggestions also welcome.

2) Keeping the aboe in mind, I was going to throw on barkbusters. Depending on the kind of bar I'll buy I know I can get a 7/8 or a 1" model. Im just hoping there would be no issues with aftermarket ASV levers.

3) Lastly keeping in mind 1, 2 replacing end counter weights, would this be possible with barbusters? I've seen the way some mount and it doesnt seem that you can then fit a bar weight.

Cheers.

Hi, ive just fitted asv levers, pro taper bars, barbusters on my tenere
http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/...e530/001-1.jpg photo does,nt show bark busters but they,re on the bike know, very easy to fit.
if you,re going to fit pro taper type bars then you,ll have to buy different bar clamps to match your new bars.

the asv levers are clutch lever asv pn crc530 (s) s if you want shorty ones like mine.
the brake lever is asv pn brc541(s) s if you want shorty ones.
the barkbusters can be bought with replacement bar end weights.
hope it helps.

Really does help, thank you Dave530. You wouldn't happen to know the model for the full length clutch ? How're you finding ASV in general?

The asv,s are excellent, a lot better than stock, the asv part no,s will be as the previous post just leave out the (S) on the end for standard length.

Got bark busters on mine without bar weights. Not noticed and difference handling, they look a little strange with bar ends imo

Fitted Renthal 971 bend bars, got standard Yammy hand guards ( which are just re-labelled acerbis ones ) and the standard bar end weights go in no problem. The hand guards come with a special washer to make it all work.
Hope that helps. Renthals are British made and spot on. nearly a perfect match for the original XTX bars shape, but not made from silver foil.

Lightbulb Aftermarket bars

Barkbusters make a range of kits for fitting up to all sorts of bars.

You can use your original bar end weights, or barkbusters do one that fits over then end of the aluminium of the guard using the countersunk bolt.

Before you do your dough, ride the bike without the bar end weights & see how you like it.

Like Bikespod, I found the better quality Alloy bars pretty much cancelled out the vibes through the stock bars, his were made from tin foil, I think mine were made from butter.

You can always order the BB items separately if you need to...

Cheers, Boneman
