Hi everyone

Hi everyone,
I'm Boyd, from Durban, South Africa. I recently acquired a beat up XT660X (2007 in flaming orange) that is in need of some TLC. I started researching and came across this website. Just what I need. So I'll have lots of questions, and I'm sure will get the answers.

The bike was left out under a carport for probably over a year. In Durban, with our heat and humidity, this is a no no. It seems that although the bike has some high quality components, it also has some really cheap components. The bike has consequently got rusted forks, corrosion on nuts and bolts and fasteners, mirror stalks look like something out of a horror movie, but nothing that's not fixable. It was cheap.

So for the next few months or more I will be possibly spending a bit of time here.
Cheers - Boyd

Thanks Feck! Sounds like you been here before

I've taken some initial pics. I will put together a storyline sometime, with things like lessons learn't, etc. And will keep taking pictures as I go.

I must admit I'm quite envious. here we don't have much in the way of dealers and specialists to help, there it sounds like they're everywhere. Really cool.

Cheers

No worries mate. I grew up in SA although in CT not Durbs by the sea
Looking forward to seeing your progress and remember there are lots of SA members here and you can always get small bits posted through Ebay.co.uk or brought back with someone who is flying from the UK/AUS.

Thanks everyone.
Kev, I heard your vioce on the youtube video making the spacers, and I thought WayHey! this man is from SA

Besides the support and help here, I will be hoping to sort out the surging. More than anything the 2007 is dreadful to ride in slow moving situations. I know Kev is the master, and I will need the best help possible.

Great suggestion Feck, I sure hope someone will be able to help out! First order of business, stainless spoke kits.

Cheers all
