Tail tidy and bars opinion for 660x 09

Hi Guys.

I did a search (maybe not hard enough) but couldn't find a unified opinion
as to which tail tidy people like to use? Any advice would be great, especially if i need to look out for anything.

I also wanted to inquire about bars I know people go for renthal protaper etc, any particular things set them apart? Also is there any difference to the curve of the bar itself that affects the riding position?
I know that the risers make a difference if you want to stand up or sit up depending on your height. So say i wanted something one small step higher than stock, how many mm would that be?

Appreciate your input.

If someone knows about just the one and not the other, would be glad to hear it?

Hi there,

Bars can be a very personal thing and lucky these days there are so many options.
There are so many different bends, up, down, in and out that you really have to look to find one to fit you.

Yes the curve of the bars can change the riding position in relation to hand position, elbow position (down or outwards), and shoulder position.

I use Protaper RC high bars with raiser on my R and they give me a relaxed touring position as opposed to my other dirt bikes with near straight Fatbars that give me a more aggressive stance.

The best thing to do is to check the web sites and check the shops, some may have bars mounted in a sort of test clamp to help you get a "feel" for them.

Hope that is some sort of help, cheers.

I know some people use the tailtidy from offtheroad.de but they're expensive and just as hard to fit as any apparently. You can get the universal type such as the DRC Edge which alot of the other supermoto guys use a lot.

I'd love some tailtidy ideas as well if the above route isn't standard.

Hi guys,

here's a link to the german xt660 site. they have a very intersting list of tail tidy conversions:

http://www.xt-660.de/mainframe.htm

Click on "Umbau und Zubehor" on the left side and then scroll down to "Heckumbauten" and click on the links. It's a german forum but has a lot of pics which do the talking!

Love the German navigation instructions Easy E
Thanks.

Kev, I had a look as recently as yesterday, I'll have another squiz. From what I've seen around a lot are either custom, or pricey like the OTR ones. But then have to bite the bullet and compromise somewhere I guess. I really liked the one that the guy was selling, a limited run of.
