Question Maxxis Supermaxx sport

Oh well, bit the bullet and shelled out for the maxxis tyres over the distanzias which I know are favoured on here but I just cant bring myself to get "dual sport" type tyres for a bike that will never even be driven over a strip of grass. In a previous life I had a Yam XTZ 750 super tenere which I put distanzia type tyres on and it was ok but in my humble opinion and the fact i have had loads of sport bikes previous to the XTX I just think pure road tyres can only be better, again its just my perception but I would appreciate all comments. Mind you I have gone ahead and bought them so it will be too late lol.

Got these on my zx6r and they're great. My wifes got them on my her R6 and rates them to. I've currently got Michelin pilot roads on my xtx and have previously used Pirelli supercorsas,Michelin Pilot sports and Pirelli stradas. I'll be getting some maxxis when the pilot roads have worn out.
If you're only riding on the road then a road tyre will out perform a 'dual' sports tyre everytime. Glad you didn't get the distanzias.

aye good mate, seen a few of your posts, im riding a 54 plate xtx, bought it in april, been riding sports bikes for 20 years so still getting used to it but my fave route is now a total riot on the xtx, only prob i have noticed is in 5 months i have had 2 punctures both on the back is it just my bad luck. a bonus when i bought the bike is afterwards i found a PCIII and a dna filter, bit of a bonus eh, will try and catch up with the scottish lot at some point ok
see ya

Aye Colin...all a kin think is , ye must have had bad luck,,there noi worse than any other tyre that i know off...ave never had a puntcture on any of ma X`s ave had 2 on ma R`s. over time mind ye... ive done the west highland way on a X twice an never had a puncture over all they rocks an stuff... I always carry that foam stuff wi me...ye never know when ye`l need it..

so wheres yer favourite routes around eastkilbride. or further a field ... theres plenty back roads around east kilbride eh.. out the strathaven way..towards Kilmarnock...tae Hamilton an down towards the leadhills. have ye done any wheelies ??? if yer not worrying about top end speed get yersel a 14 front sprocket...quicker acceleration mid range grunt ye only miss out on 5 mph an the bike will do 105 easy... but these bikes are better off around the 80ish mark,, on the trailies its not about speed its about Torque. i have a xjr 13 aswell now theres a Torquey bike

xjr nice, once had an FJ12 now there was a torquey bike. routes are basically out behind straven and beyond, just as fast on the xtx i reckon, you think 14t sprocket is the way to go then, on my prev bike ZX9R i had a bigger back sprocket and that still did 170ish but wheelied like crazy, top speed is defo not on the agenda these days licence too prcious and got 2 kids now so high speeds a nono.

colly dug.. was out on ma two bikes the day,, went tae edinburgh this mornin on teh xjr a message... it was good but as ye say way too fast.. an the speeds a was doin,, i can manage them on ma xt,,, obviously all a miss is teh real explosive acceleration o the xjr... then around 5pm took the xt out,, i was hammerin along goodstyle, jist overtook two lorries blootering it past them...an the chain snapped...its only done 500miles...so am up fur a new chain pronto.. ...so if its dry the morra..am out an about onma xjr..heading tae south queensferry fur a wee jaunt...gonna get rid o the xjr..so if anyone is interested...gie me a shout...its immaculate. an reasonablly priced. any takers
