AltecH accessories.

I got around to fitting some quality parts that arrived earlier this week. Great service & communication aided a super smooth transaction with Pay pal. I'm a very happy customer. An added bonus was the nicely labelled fixings zip lock packets that are now keeping the original nuts and bolts safe and easy to find.

The Rack is the medium Explorer size, which down the track should house a SW Motech Speedpack (or similar )very well.

Black Dakar Logo Rad Guard...

.

One thought that sprang to mind in the process of the easy fitting was the Rack & Rad Guard are reversible. So if they got a bit scuffed in my ownership & (heaven forbid ) should sell the bike then they can be turned over & hey presto good as new again !

The clear instructions for the Sprocket cover suggested re-routing the side stand cut out cable the other side of the chain & sprocket & under the gear shift. However I opted to drill two pairs of holes in it so the cable runs about where it was originally, held in place with some Zip ties .Just a personal preference.

Big Thanks to Al at AltecH Designs. I'm just sorry I didn't know about AltecH when I had my DRZ as the tool tube bracket would have been a lot better then the effort I made !

Thumbs up

Hi Desert Racer, neat job....I will re do my sprocket cover as you have done. Where did you get the frame guard..? And the rack looks great..a decent size but still flows with the bike. Steve

Thanks keithy2 & Greatescape, the frame guards are cut out from some self adhesive carbon fibre sheeting I bought from a UK eBay shop a couple of years ago left over from the DRZ. From memory it was about 20 for a foot square. It's the nice thick stuff stays put & lasts ages. I just cut some templates out of paper till I was happy with the shape before cutting the sheeting. I also put a patch on the front of the frame In between the frame oil drain plug & bash plate where it gets a bit of a hammering from the front wheel on gravel roads.

When I drilled the holes for the Zip ties on the sprocket cover I also de-burred them to take off any sharp edges with a larger drill bit.

I really do like the fact I can visually inspect the front sprocket now to see what's going on in there easily without having to take anything apart.

Parts looking good on the bike there Desert Racer!

The carbon frame protector is spot on. I might do that myself.
