Post MTC Single Can Install

While ridding the Tnr of the under-seat heating heating accessory - formally known as the OEM exhaust, ( my pillion never liked it) I discovered a few positives: a) enhancing the look of the bike immeasurably, b) improving performance a little, c) lowering the weight and d) giving "just" enough of an exhaust note to disturb the neighbors cat.

There was also a ventilation gap left by the departure of the old exhaust system. I wondered where the mud and assorted debris might go without the old exhaust to catch it. So, I set about making something to fill the gap.

So with cardboard, pencil, ruler and square a template was drafted and tested for fit. I then dug through my scrap box to find some appropriate material with to make the gap stopper. I settled upon a small sheet of 2mm textured high density polythene donated from one of those archive boxes that hold your Visor Down magazine collection in a tidy upright ready to read form.

The attached PDF file should be 1:1 plan of the solution I used all the holes are cut as squares because straight lines are easier to cut in this material with an Exacto or Stanley knife.

The plastic gap stopper protects the wiring to the tail light and turn signals and sits very firmly in place with the two bolts holding the MTC exhaust bracket. The outside two square holes are to clear the two bolts on the frame to provide a flush fit for the plastic gap stopper.

While I mention it, the MTC exhaust bracket provides a nice mounting point for a tool tube. I got enthusiastic with some 150mm sewer pipe (new, not secondhand!) and fittings as shown in the last photo. I will post some better photos when finished, if anyone is interested (cost thus far is less than 20 Euro).
