Three tenors in Morocco

(TENOR from medieval Latin, based on tenere ‘to hold’; because the tenor part ‘held’ the melody.)

Nick and Martin are riding their Teneres to Plymouth on Sunday 22 May to catch the ferry which arrives Santander midday Monday, and after many hours of riding they expect to be in the Malaga area early afternoon on Tuesday.

I'm flying to Spain on Sunday to collect my Tenere that's stored with MotoAdvenTours near Malaga. After the rectifier blew, it had a new wiring loom fitted by a Spanish dealer so I need to refit the 'Kev' mod and the Centech fuse box, fit a left-side engine cover (replacement of the one mended with liquid metal), fit a new chain tensioner (previous one fell off) and check it over before Nick and Martin arrive.

Then the three Tenors will head for the ferry with the plan being to hop on the motorway past Tanger and stop Tuesday night at Asilah on the Atlantic coast.

Wednesday morning we plan to visit the M'sour Cromlech (stone circle) and Ad Mercuri (Roman staging post) then a road liason to Azrou, dump the luggage and spend the afternoon on the network of pistes in the Middle Atlas.

Thursday on pistes heading south through the cedar forests and limestone karst eventually coming out near Midelt.

Friday tackle the Cirque de Jaffar and an easier section across to Imilchil, then drop our luggage at the hotel and do the Lakes of Tears.

Saturday visit the Aoujgal Cliffside Granaries, then road liaison west towards Bin el Ouidane reservoir, head south on the Happy Valley and Cathedral piste.

Sunday morning do the remainder of Happy Valley route, followed by Dinosaur Footprints and Sidi Rahal Geode Mine then head for Marrakech where there's a open air concert (in support of victims of the recent bomb attack) planned in Djemma el Fna for the Sunday night.

Monday we'll head north on the motorway back to Tanger though I'll probably peel off at Casablanca to get some new tyres. Nick and Martin will head back through Spain, then my new son-in-law is flying into Marrakech, hiring a BMW F650 single, and we'll head off into the High Atlas for another week.

When he flies back I need to decide whether to leave the bike in Spain or ride it back to the UK for some long overdue TLC.
