Acerbis handguards

Has anyone mounted these on their Tenere?

I'm having a hard time fitting them without the levers hitting the shields. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any shorter levers to be found perhaps?

I have them on the Tenere and they were a fiddle to fit as they are generic and not made specifically for the Ten.

You have to loosen the clutch and brake clamps try different positions till you get a good fit, I think I had to turn the front brake banjo bolt aswell.

With shorter levers there would not be a big problem but you would still need a few attempts.

I can take some photos tonight.

I just cut the end off the brake lever, and replaced the clutch lever with a pattern one for a DR-Z400 that I had lying around.

I keep getting tempted to buy some ASV ones, then having a word with myself about spending 160 on levers

They are lovely, but I wish you'd had a word with me too, then I'd be a little better off!

It'd be great to see them fitted, so please take lots of pictures! The clutch lever I can only get to sort of rest against the spoiler of the handguard, I can't get it behind the metal bar.

Perhaps I'll just cut it, I rarely use the full length of it anyway.

Whoa, I see you have quite a few insect lived on your conscience there.

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like you have slightly different handguards and mounts, but have the same tight lever fit.

I wonder if the original Yamaha handguards make use of the bar end weights. Anyone know?

Nope. They come with their own weights.

Now, they get a bit of a bad press, the OE ones. Yes they are $$$$$, but I've tested mine literally to destruction, and even snapped completely in two, they still work!!!

It depends what you want HandGuards for. If it is to protect your hands from things that will cause damage then they are excelent. If you want nice warm hands, buy a muff!

The small spoiler does keep the crap off your hands, and it does deflect the wind, but it's not the same cocoon as the Acerbis or KTM or BarkBusters, but then you don't have the same issues with fitting them either.

I've thought long and hard about what to do with mine, and to be honest, a year after snapping them I've pretty much discounted any of the aftermarket ones (for one reason or another) and I'm looking for a right hand side Yamaha OE guard.
